This fryday we take a look at the great MSO mission that has been brought to us by Wolffy.au (modded by -=XTRA=-Tox1m). This mission will take us to t ...
This is generally applicable to all levels and it isnt though as it seems
Its simply to use with or without command structures.
First rule: never go alone!
Distinction is 1."Movement" and 2."Maneuver".
1. Movement is a tactical move, ie without enemy contact.
2. Maneuver with enemy contact, where the distances are shorter.
1. Movement:
Fundamental distinction in Traveling and Overwatch:
Traveling:
Travel mode, the team comes together and continuously. -> moving fast, but with less security. Is used when enemy contact is not expected.
Traveling Overwatch:
Special form of travel with increased security, if speed is important and enemy contact is possible: team goes continuously on, but there is an over-watch element that follows and covers.
The Overwatch element moves so that it can cover the lead element. If the lead element comes under fire, the Overwatch element has immediately provide active fire protection, so that the lead member can act on ( Lead in the heath).
It may be followed in variable speed, stops from time to time to get an overview and use the profile of the terrain.
Bounding Overwatch:
If enemy contact is expected: one of the team moves, the rest has to cover. As long as there is no enemy contact, the terrain determines the distances.
The leader should instruct this form when enemy contact is expected. Thats the slowest but safest way!
1. splitting up in two groups:lead element for bounding and travel-element for overwatch
2. first group build up a base of fire
3. second group goes forward to the next cover point and also builds up a base of fire
There are two possible variants:
a) Alternate Bounds (standard method, or: "bounding" or "leapfrogging":
- changing roles!!
b) Successive Bounds (also called "caterpillar-like moving"):
The Overwatch element moves only up to the level of the lead element and applies position there.
- the roles dont change!!
This is the slower version, but with more security and overview.
2. Fire and Maneuver
In principle this is the same as "Movement", except that bounding is required.
"Fire and Maneuver" is when enemy contact exists. As the name suggests, the proper motion is covered by fire, ie The Overwatch Element bombarding the enemy with cover fire ("Suppressing Fire").
!!!"Do not move without fire, no fire without movement."!!!!
Important: try to ensure fire sovereignty (lead in the heath), suppress the enemy!
Although the terrain still dictates the distances, but covering is the most important element:
The lead element moves only for 2 -5 seconds (duration, that the enemy usually requires for proper aiming) in the next cover.
The advantages are clear:
- Enenemy-Fire is reduced
- Enemy is stressed and could easily loose the overview
- Own Troops can easier move cause of less suppressive fire of the enemy Read more...
thanks for this Tox1m.
Well.. i am working on a "lite" version of this army manuals with the look on perfomence and practicability that that doesnt affect the fun of gameplay.
Rather we all can profit from it:
This will be based on Dslyecxi's ArmA2 Tactics, Techniques & Procedures Guide and www.globalsecurity.org
I try to figure it out without difficult command structures.
It should just give a short overview for a simple use.
Ahh yes i forgot:
I dont know why, but sometimes i feel blind.. i dont recognize enemies ..i dont see them..
means i can forget the first look, first shot, first kill thing Read more...
I wish you a happay new year and of course a succesfull hunting!
The last year ended with extreme difficult and hard domination session in Takistan, that more or less ended in a disaster of frustration . we couldnt win!!
i recognized, that all my knowledge about movement and maneuver is more or less useless, ...if i dont train it.
The practicability is (in my case) difficult aside from the fact that i had internalize the theorie again.
Well yes, the tactics, techniques and procedures are Read more...
Last event of the year, don't miss it! There will be plenty more events coming your way in the new year but the old year is almost gone and therefor ...
